Since Your Vehicle Is Under Lockdown Too – What Now?

It is not just the human population that is parked at home with restrictions imposed due to the threat of the spread of the coronavirus. Their vehicles too are also feeling the brunt. My own 4-wheeled baby has always been used to more companionship from me. So follow the following tips from Go-Green Auto Service Corp to ensure that your ride will be ready for action again when the moment arrives. Just be advised that these tips are only applicable to vehicles that are sitting idle less than a month and a half (45 days).

  • Add a good fuel stabilizer and preservative such as STA-BIL®, which is as simple as fueling up a vehicle that it can be done by anyone. Merely follow the instructions that come right on the product’s container. To help minimize condensation, be sure to also fill up your gas tank. Drive your vehicle for 5 to 10 miles to make sure that you circulate the stabilized fuel throughout the fuel system.
  • Confirm that your battery terminals are clean, tight and free of corrosion. Bring your car over to Go-Green Auto Service Corp for this service. You know we have remained open for you in Brooklyn during this pandemic. You don’t even have to worry about calling ahead because we are always open for you.
  • If at all possible and if it’s not much of an inconvenience to you, try to use a Battery Tender or other effective maintenance-type battery charger to keep your battery at a full state of charge and prevent deterioration. The Battery Tender should remain connected to your car while it is being stored.
  • Add an additional 10 psi of pressure to each one of your 4 tires to help prevent the formation of flat spots on your tires. This happens when the part of the tire that is touching the ground becomes rigid from sitting in one same, unmoved position for an extended period of time. So it helps if you can also move your car periodically, or if you are able to place your vehicle on jack stands so that its tires are off the ground. You can even find available storage pads with semi-circular shapes that support the car tire over a wider area.
  • If your vehicle is due for an oil change, have it taken care of to remove any contaminants and acids. Again, you know Go-Green Auto Service Corp is always at your service for this and everything your vehicle ever requires from us. It is always our pleasure to show why we are the best in the Big Apple at the greatest prices.
  • Prop up the wiper arms of your car so that its blades are off the windshield and won’t ever get stuck to the glass.
  • Don’t ever use your parking brake whenever you are storing your car. Depending on your car and the storage conditions you have it under, the brake could become frozen, brake pads could rust to the rotors, or its brake shoes could distort the drums. You can simply place your car in park if it has an automatic transmission. Now, if it is a manual transmission what your vehicle happens to have, then place it in first or reverse gear and use wheel chocks to help hold your vehicle in place.
  • Keep your car insured at all times; this way you’re always protected against any claims created by unforeseen circumstances and you’re also ensured to avoid increases in premiums for a lapse in coverage.
  • Make a list of everything you did to prep your car for storage so you won’t forget to properly and completely undo all of the appropriate steps when life goes back to normal and you’re readying your car to put it back on the road. Keep this list in your vehicle’s glove compartment so you always know where it is.

And, much more important than all of the foregoing, Go-Green Auto Service Corp prays you and all your family and loved ones remain completely healthy and safe at all times, that each and every one of you guys be able to once again enjoy your great vehicle as soon as life goes back to normal. Peace & Love always too.
